The IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment) is a not-for-profit, independent professional body promoting the goal of sustainable development. This is achieved through the provision of knowledge and tools for individuals to make a practical environmental difference. The Institute provides a range of membership services and professional qualifications to support this aim.

The Institute, as a leading environmental professional body, is committed to supporting the development of individuals by contributing to the advancement of training and qualifications to meet the needs of the environmental profession and individuals requiring environmental awareness information and training. The Institute supports the notion of lifelong learning, particularly essential in this rapidly developing area.

The Institute has more than 12,000 individual members and 300 corporate members worldwide. Approximately 90% of the Institute’s membership is based in the UK. The Institute has a range of membership levels, from Affiliate to Fellow to support the varying levels of responsibility for environmental issues. The Institute’s knowledge based qualification (Associate member) is widely accepted as the industry benchmark, attracting over 1700 individuals per year through the varying options for achievement.

Good to connect with you in this network.

I am leading a major environmental project - 100 Climate Change Councils that may be of interest to IEMA and members.

Our aims are to:

- To catalyze individuals and local groups to take massive action on climate change.

- To create an ongoing community of practice with the power to exponentially impact attitudes and behaviours towards the environment.

- To communicate the recommendations for action to Government and to the Copenhagen Climate Conference in 2009.
