Empel provides a flood risk assessment advisory service for all aspects of flood risk and design of mitigation or defences. Melinda has particular expertise in project management, flood risk assessment, alleviation and defences, asset surveys, feasibility and detailed design of sewerage and sewage treatment works. She is a board member of the Institution of Civil Engineers Water Sector Board, and chairman of the ICE North East Flooding Expert Panel.
Before setting up Empel, Melinda had 20 years’ design and management experience in water and infrastructure projects, including seven years with Jacobs where she was involved with project management, detailed design and feasibility work. She has previously worked at Cundall where she specialised in the water sector, Entec where she also specialised in the water sector, Northumberland County Council doing derelict and contaminated land remediation, Balfour Maunsell and Sir Frederick Snow and Partners.
