Book Reviews: Hot, Flat & Crowded and The God Species

I don't tend to read many "green" books these days - not because I think I know it all, but because I'm topping up my knowledge everyday simply by doing my job, so sitting down in the evening and opening a weighty tome at p1 is less than appealing. I need your pearls of wisdom!

The last two Christmases I have published "Pearls of Wisdom" - short compendia of wise words on CSR/green business/corporate responsibility compiled from contributors to The Green Executive. I intend to do the same this year but, in lieu of the book interviews, would like to crowd source some contributions. What I need are 1 or 2, maximum 3 sentences giving a real insight for readers - no platitudes or…See More

How to debate with a climate "sceptic"

Posted on August 3, 2011 at 10:22am 0 Comments

I've just entered and won my second battle with a climate "sceptic". After the bruising experience of the first win (with an Emeritus Professor), I thought I would take a more intelligent approach. It worked, so I thought I would share.

The standard "sceptic" tactic is to bombard you with a barrage of nonsense to debunk - everything from the survival rates of polar bears to whether ice is melting on Mars. Most of this is irrelevant, cherry picked or simply made up and it…

Cheers
