I am responsible for regulating the PPC sector with particular expertise in the waste sector e.g. landfills and hazardous waste treatment facilities.

I am based in the Environment Agency’s Northumbria Area office. I have a good working knowledge of the broad range of issues faced by by a typical PPC Compliance officer. I have specialised in the waste industry, and I have a strong level of technical experience in this field. In addition to my normal duties I also head up the Internal Environment Management team who's aim is to reduce the Carbon footprint for our office.

I am routinely involved in the following;
• Assessing permitted sites for compliance with the permit requirements
• Carrying out audits of environmental management systems
• Technical assessments of both design and construction of civil engineering Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) reports submitted by operators.
• Full assessments of monitoring data
•Enforcement action for non-compliances and subsequent pollution incidents
•Hazardous Waste Producer audits including assessment for compliance with the Hazardous Waste Regulations
•Attending pollution incidents, minimising the environmental impact, gathering evidence and carrying out enforcement action
•Provide advice on pollution prevention, waste minimisation, Hazardous Waste, and legislation as applicable
•Providing advice and support to other departments within the Agency, to members of the public, other public organisations and industry

Contacts & collaborators. I am routinely involved in work that involves skills that are not easily available. I would like to use this site to increase the number of contacts I havee so that in the event that I cannot find a consultant or contractor who is suitable, someone from this network may be able to [point me in the right direction.
