About environmental noise & vibration

Environmental noise & vibration issues are those that affect the wider community, as distinct from occupational (work place) noise & vibration or architectural acoustics, for example.

The most common application of this specialism is in relation to Planning Applications, EIA and Environmental Permitting - wherever development causes, or may be affected by, noise and vibration; it doesn't include Statutory (neighbour) Noise Nuisance which is generally a matter for local authority Environmental health Officers to address.

It may also be applied in relation to industrial and commercial noise 7 vibration where community complaints or Regulator investigation and enforcement is occurring.

This is a very specialist area within the environmental field, so I thought I'd start a Group to connect with fellow acousticians and to provide an information resource to the wider Network.  (The Group picture was taken at Sidab in Oman, one of my most enjoyable survey trips to date).

Of course, should anyone need an environmental assessment doing, please don't hesitate to contact me on mike@echo-acoustics.co.uk  :)

Best regards,

Mike
